Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Servd is made by PZ Dynamics, a registered business in California ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the Servd app collects, why, who it's shared with, and what you can do about it.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we only see the relay address Apple gives us.
Your content. Recipes, meal plans, saved meals, pantry items, shopping lists, and settings you create or import. These are stored with your account so they sync across your devices, along with recipe and pantry photos you add.
Photos for AI features. When you scan your pantry, photograph a cookbook page, or snap a dish or ingredient to get a recipe suggestion, that photo (and any notes or preferences you add) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to read it. We don't keep those photos on our servers unless you save the result as a recipe photo.
Barcodes. When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product. Nothing else about you is sent with it.
Voice input. If you use the microphone in Cook Mode or mise en place, your speech is converted to text by your phone's built-in speech recognition (Apple on iPhone and iPad, Google on Android), which may process the audio on their servers. We never receive the audio, only the resulting text.
Recipes you import. When you import from a website, we fetch that page and send its text to Anthropic to pull out the ingredients and steps. When you share an Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook post, the link and its public content (caption, video, thumbnail, creator name) are sent to ScrapeCreators to retrieve it. When you bulk import from Google Docs or text files, the document's text is sent to Anthropic to find and extract the recipes. Paprika exports are read entirely on your device; only recipe names and ingredient names are sent to Anthropic to sort them by dish type.
Sharing recipes and meals. When you share recipes or a saved meal, we store a copy of what you shared (the recipes, their photos, notes and tags, the meal details, and your first name) on our servers under a random link. Anyone with the link can view it until it expires after 180 days, or until you delete your account.
Cooking with a sous chef. When you start a two-device cook session, your cook plan and the first names you each enter are stored on our servers under a random session code, shared by QR code. Anyone with that code can view the session. Sessions aren't linked to your account.
Calendar and Reminders. If you add your meal plan to your calendar or send your shopping list to Reminders, Servd writes those entries on your device, with your permission. We don't receive or store your calendar or reminders.
Purchases. If you subscribe to Servd Pro, RevenueCat (our subscription service) receives your purchase history, linked to an internal account ID. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
Diagnostics. If the app hits an error, or you send a report with "Report a problem," we receive technical details: your device platform, the app version, the error, and a short list of the screens and actions just before it. If you're signed in, the report is linked to your account so we can follow up. It never includes your recipe or pantry contents.
Usage data. We record a small number of in-app events, like whether the welcome screens and feature tips were completed or skipped, so we can tell what's working. These are tied to a random ID created when the app is installed, not to your account, and contain no recipe or pantry contents.
Notifications. Cooking timers and meal reminders are scheduled on your device. We don't collect a push notification token.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account
- To sync your recipes, pantry, and settings across your devices
- To power the AI features: importing recipes, building cook plans, scanning your pantry, suggesting recipes from photos, and answering cooking questions
- To deliver recipes and meals you choose to share
- To run two-device cook sessions
- To manage your Servd Pro subscription
- To find and fix bugs, and to understand which parts of the app are working for people
We don't sell your personal information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
4. Services we share data with
- Anthropic: recipe extraction, cook plans, photo scanning and suggestions, and the cooking assistant. Under Anthropic's API terms, the data we send isn't used to train their models. anthropic.com/privacy
- ScrapeCreators: retrieving Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook posts you choose to import. scrapecreators.com/privacy
- Open Food Facts: barcode lookups. openfoodfacts.org
- RevenueCat: subscription management. revenuecat.com/privacy
- Supabase: secure cloud storage for your account, app data, and shared links. supabase.com/privacy
- Cloudflare: hosts getservdapp.com, including the pages shared links open in a browser.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, payments, and on-device speech recognition.
Each only gets what it needs for its part of the job.
5. Storage and security
Your data is stored with Supabase, protected by access rules that limit each account to its own data, and sent over encrypted connections.
6. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it, including links you've shared, at any time from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an active subscription; cancel that through the App Store or Google Play.
7. Children
Servd isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing servd.app@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights, and we'll honor those requests too.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll let you know in the app and update the date at the top.
